Therapy for all bodies

Hello! This is just a little note from me to say that all bodies are welcome here. I have been working with body image for some time now to be fully aware of the discrimination, bias and fat phobia that exists today. I am here as one little voice against the multitude of posts on social media that tells you what to do, how to look like and what to eat or not to eat. They are wrong!

What we have discovered so far is that fad diets do not contribute to a stable lower weight. It creates unstable metabolism and confusion about food. What we know now is that the weight usually comes back, often more than what was lost.

Body image concerns usually drive eating issues and it all can start from an early age. Parents are encouraged to learn more about eating disorders to protect their children against harmful media content, their own bias and even school’s syllabus regarding “healthy eating” and exercise.

There is an overwhelming pressure on people to be thin. This pressure is affecting children as well. An eating disorder is a life threatening illness that can be hidden due to lack of support or acceptance for different bodies.

During our sessions we focus on learning that there is a reason for this illness to have appeared as a coping mechanism. We will also focus on how it is not serving you or your goals in life; always respecting your history and where you are so far. Each step is grounded in evidence based approaches, attentiveness and consideration to avoid further harm.
